About Steven James Design

Steven James Design brings you a wealth of experience accumulated over the years which began in the late seventies when we started in window treatments, custom blinds and draperies, including the exquisite line of sliding draperies and soji panels. From there we began naturally evolving adding book shelving and end cabinetry to complement the drapery panels.

By the end of the seventies furniture and cabinetry became a prime feature and progressed into a full line of custom high-end furniture for the entire home including bedrooms, living room, dining rooms, kitchens, built in units for offices and libraries. We also ventured into commercial work including Formica, wood, Vitricore (acrylic) and lacquer.

The eighties saw us continuing to keep pace with the market and we brought in our soft goods line including Natuzzi, private label, Kravit, Shumacher, Monark, Fabrica, Shaw, Wunda Weave, Galaxy, and incorporated them into floor planning. We began designing entertainment rooms (now they’re Home Theaters!) with big screen TVs and upscale audio systems- we were one of the first to market this. Eventually we began turnkey jobs from framing to finish.
